Where to go, Captain?
Do you know the fundamental truth that says you cannot get somewhere if you don’t know where you are heading?
Seneca said it way better: “If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable.” Sounds relevant, right? Well, let’s revisit that later on.
So here I am, facing a new challenge: Jumping in the “Online” game. Time to catch-up girl!
For more than ten years, I've been happily crafting tailored coaching solutions to enhance my clients' businesses and lives. It was working perfectly, all through word of mouth, so why rock the boat? The answer is simple: I wanted to extend my impact and serve more people.
Having a website and a social media presence might seem like a no-brainer when you have that intention. Nonetheless, if you are like me, I know how big a challenge this is—a new paradigm for your way of doing business.
What is your intention?
What new playgrounds would represent a leverage for you?
Then, a question we all struggle with at some point; How should I position myself on these new playgrounds?
That’s when I realized something:
- If I focus on differentiating myself from existing (online) competition, I might drowned myself in complex marketing analyses before even thinking of making a first move.
- However, if I focus on honoring who I am, regardless of who is in the (coaching) game already, and be as authentic online as I am in real life, I will not only succeed for sure, but I will enhance my odds to, somewhere down the line, stand out from that crowd.
Isn’t it funny? The way we consider our aims is far from neutral – what we focus on and how we envision our goals directly shapes our ability to achieve them.
What are you focusing on?
That said, let’s revisit Seneca’s wisdom: “If one does not know to which port one is sailing, no wind is favorable.” Actually, I would like to add two layers:
1- Choose the “port” wisely; make it your port.
My port here is to be - or more accurately to remain - unique and not to listen to the marketing-sirens who would tell me to position myself in contrast to my competitors.
When your “port” is clear, your strategy arises and guides you on what to say YES to and NO to.
Know your port.
2- The port is not the end.
A port is nothing more than a parking lot for boats!
So park your boat there, then land and do whatever you are there to do.
For me that purpose is to enable people to succeed and inspire others by honoring their true selves. Help them to become Aligned Achievers, that is my mission.
Your mission, your end-goal, is your added value. Adding value to people’s lives must be your ultimate focus, whatever your job is.
Know your mission and stay connected to it to prevent yourself from getting lost in your strategies. This alone will enhance your chances to keep the wind in your sails and overcome your challenges.
Know your mission.
Grab your favorite coffee or tea (I'm a tea person, I know, nobody is perfect ;p), and enjoy that 3-5 minutes reading a new post about Achievement and Alignement every Sunday.
Get stimulated, questionned, guided, and inspired for the week coming
