#14 When was the last time that you won big?

When was the last time that you won big?
You could legitimately ask me to define what counts as big or at least where it starts.
But the truth is, it’s not really that relevant to establish a formal definition here. What is big for me might not be big for you, and vice versa.

What we might actually have in common is looking for the next step ahead and feeling thrilled. This is where our “Big” takes place.
Where is your next big achievement settling?
Are you lining up with it?
How?

1/ Winning is not (yet) the point.
Focusing on “BIG” is. It will force you to become better at what you do and, in the best case scenario, at who you are too.
Indeed, I don’t care if you manage it successfully, now. I’ll care about that when you’ll be trained enough, and not missing out any more opportunities when they come across and smile at you.

2/Are you an opportunity-taker?

Are you an opportunity-observer?

Are you an opportunity-blinder?

Are you an opportunity-seeker?

Are you an oppourtunity-creator?

The opportunity-seeker is enthusiastic when he finally finds it after a long journey of exploration. The opportunity creator is, of course an opportunity-seeker, but he has an extra layer: he builds up a whole new plan that has not been experienced yet. When you behave as an opportunity –creator, then the game changes. You are crafting something up from a promising land.

3/One of my friends is right now in a process of raising funds for a new real estate project. He is dealing with traditional banks for the property acquisition on his own. Believe it or not, because of projections of high profitablility from this new project, his banker advised him to remove two thirds of the revenue sources from his business plan just to be more “acceptable” for the risk review committee.

While you are aiming to win big, others play it to lose small.
That’s okay, not everybody has to play like you. But don’t let you influenced to lower your game. Line-up with your own goals, not with someone else’s capacity to validate them. Then, set yourself up to pursue them anyway. Show a business plan that reassures whoever might need it and still plays your game to the fullest.

4/ First things first, focus on your focus.
Authors have written plenty of books on what it requires to become a winner. I’ve read lot of them, and they are indeed gold mines of best-practices from the most experienced achievers.
But if I had to highlight one essential rule, and only one, it would be that; You cannot win big whenever you consider winning small as an option.

So simple, and yet, we are wired to be cautious and reasonable. Probably more than we need for our own safety.
Don’t get me wrong here, you will not be guaranteed to win big just because you refuse to take the “small game” scenario into consideration. However, when consciously and intelligently ignoring such a scenario, you definitely maximize your chances to CREATE that “BIG” win. Your focus is all powered toward your success, as there is no place for another way out. No wasting of energy. Then, you have to create all the machinery to make it happen. And you’ll do it, step by step, relentlessly.
Don’t allow anything or anyone (especially yourself!) to give up on your power and deviate yourself from the big scenario.
